8 weeks from March 19 to May 7

Overview

The dedicated practice of Anapanasati (or mindfulness of breathing) cultivates a steadier mind thereby giving us greater access to present moment awareness in our daily lives. Over eight weeks we will explore this deceptively simple meditation practice, support it with contemplations from the four foundations of mindfulness -- mainly the six senses to enliven our daily lives. These classes are an excellent support for your practice as well as a source of spiritual friendship.

The course will include a weekly class for guided meditation, teaching, and discussion including breakout groups. As a support to your practice, reading material and contemplations will be emailed each week. As we deepen our insight into this human experience via these practices, interbeing comes into view or becomes more clear as we see the wave-like nature of our individual experience in the context of the whole ocean of being.

This course is offered on a sliding scale. Teacher fees are included in this cost. As these teachings are traditionally offered freely no one will be turned away due to financial concerns. Scholarships are available.

About facilitator, Sarah Carlin-Ball:

Sarah is one of several Sangha Leaders that mentor with Bill Knight in the Muskoka Mindfulness Community. Her practice began thirteen years ago with MBSR and she has attended short and long retreats every year since. She has practiced for many years with Terry Hagan and Mala Sikka, core teachers at the Dharma Centre of Canada. In 2017 she undertook four years of teacher training with non-dual teacher Matt Flickstein. Exploring and sharing the dharma, painting and poetry, and family and friends (furry ones too) are her passions.

"Sarah's way of teaching is as invaluable as what she teaches. She possesses a deep knowledge of her material - her guided meditations were superb. The follow up weekly emails only added to the value of the course. This has deepened and enriched both my practice and my understanding of Buddhist philosophy. This is  wonderful way to guide our practice, and our way of life."
