About the event

NEW START DATE - January 17, 2022 ~ Tuesdays 6:00 - 8:00 PM ~ ONLINE

Over the course of seven weeks, Jiana and Dale will help you create a pathway for the next stages of your life, wherever you find yourself today. This inquiry will invite you to come home to the core of who you are and highlight the purpose for this next phase of your life.

We will use a combination of mindfulness meditation, experiential exploration, journalling and sharing circles to help participants explore their skills, strengths and talents in a warm and supportive environment. With this exploration we hope it will help you determine where you want to see yourself in the future and how it will increase the wellbeing of yourself, your family and your community.

There will be journalling, reading and creative thinking for you to complete each week between classes, and there will also be times when you will work in small groups to complete some of these exercises.

Over the seven weeks we will cover these topics:

  1. Where are you now on your journey?
  2. How are you unique – what are your ‘superpowers’?
  3. How might your purpose create change in your world?
  4. Understanding your strengths - what are you really good at?
  5. Exploring what you really want to achieve with your life
  6. Starting the plan - What do I want my future to look like?
  7. Bringing it all together in celebration

You will be guided through this process by 2 experienced facilitators and meditation teachers, Jiana Cutting and Dale Sutton.

Jiana Cutting is a certified mindfulness meditation teacher receiving her training from the Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program developed by Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach and offered by the Awareness Training Institute and Sounds True. Jiana moved from Los Angeles California to Ontario Canada in 1995 with her partner Wayne and their 2 month old daughter Kaela. Forming a blended family with Wayne’s two daughters Niki and Sammy, they quickly adapted to their new life in Muskoka. After the birth of their fourth daughter, Jaycie, Jiana went to work at the YWCA Muskoka, a local non-profit whose mission is to see all women and girls thriving.

After attending a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction program that was being offered by Dr. Bill Knight in Huntsville Muskoka, Jiana decided to become a mindfulness teacher. Mindfulness has taught her to truly accept who she is and see clearly the circumstances of her life and then to move forward with wisdom and compassion - the two wings of mindfulness - for herself and for others. She now teaches an Intro to Mindfulness program and hosts a weekly meditation group and is a sangha leader for the Muskoka Mindfulness Community, which was an offshoot of the MBSR program, and has been running for over 15 years. In 2019 she co-founded the non-profit organization, The Centre for Mindfulness in Muskoka, which hopes to bring more mindfulness opportunities to the Muskoka area and support people on their journeys to peace and acceptance, wherever along the path they find themselves.

Dale Sutton is a certified mindfulness meditation teacher receiving her training from the Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program developed by Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach and offered by the Awareness Training Institute and Sounds True.Dale ran her own company for 25 years as a consultant in the corporate world teaching team building and leadership development, and was a personal coach to many middle managers and executives. Since moving on to her next stage in life, she has deepened her meditation practice and acquired the mindfulness meditation knowledge to take her love of teaching and sharing with others to a new audience. She is particularly interested in people who want to grow and learn regardless of their age and life experience, as she believes we never stop learning until we take our last breath. She has also become very involved in the investigation into white privilege as part of her meditation training, and brings these perspectives to her teaching when appropriate. Dale also has a passion for Fibre Art work and is bringing this to her meditation practice through the creation of Meditation Wall hangings.
